National Youth Jazz Academy

NYJA (National Youth Jazz Academy) was established as an initiative of the not-for-profit Regional Youth & Performing Arts Foundation Inc with the support of the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz, and has begun to establish itself as a unique contributor to the Australian Jazz community. It’s fully scholarshipped programs have already started to turn out some excellent and original artists who are beginning to make their own mark on a national and international stage.
The NYJA program has attracted young jazz musicians from around Australia who collaborate in a variety of ensemble and solo contexts with a tapestry of ensemble combo’s forming each performance program and a focus on artist development.
Programs are under the direction of professional musician, composer and educator Mr. Wayne Robinson along with an Academy staff of 16 plus guest mentors including many of the Jazz community’s great identities and organisations from across the music community both in Australia and internationally.
