Welcome to #MBBF2017!
A Word From the Artistic Director, James Mustafa:
Well, the The Melbourne Big Band Festival has finally ended. It's been an enormous project that has spanned many months and involved many hundreds of people. Over 2 massive days, we had 264 musicians playing in our 20 ensembles, with many artists in numerous groups. I haven't worked out the exact figures yet but we had between 670-750 audience members, which to me signals a huge success! I want to acknowledge our 6 volunteers from Nossal High School who worked spectacularly over the two days cooking sausages, working the ticket desk, selling CDs and doing all the setting/packing up. I also want to thank Howard Norsetter and the Moreland City Band for hosting our event and giving us use of their space. A big acknowledgement to our food venues and stalls - they really made the festival exciting, festive and delicious! A big thank you Clancye Marina and Joyce Chahine who basically ran the entire festival, organising/setting up/co-ordinating and just working their magic! And of course, I need to acknowledge and thank all the musicians and audience members who came and shared in the entire event. Without your love of this music, we couldn't make events like this a reality! Onwards and upwards! If you want to see this festival again next year, LET US KNOW! Post your favourite photos, share how much you loved the event and let's create a buzz! We'll be making a decision in the coming months whether to do it all again in 2018, but we expect it to be bigger, better and louder than ever before! #mbbf17
